World Cup 2006

I may not be a big fan of soccer, but I watch it once in a while. My bro loves that sports. His favorite club is Arsenal. My mum and dad love to watch soccer. My mum may not always know a lot about the teams/clubs, the players and the rules, but she loves to watch it.
Being a soccer fan, my bro is surprisingly very calm when he watches soccer match. If the club he likes would make a goal, he would just put a little smile on his face without releasing any kind of sounds. This is so unlike my mum and dad.

OK, enough about my family.

This World Cup 2006 was very entertaining as usual. I never really root for any country. I just love the spirit and energy people show during the World Cup. Silly, and unpredictable things also happens during World Cup. For me, Zidane's sudden head butt action was the most surprising but interesting thing that happened in this World Cup tournament. I was so surprised when he did that. I was stunned. I always like him. I think he is a hot bald guy. Hahaha... Anyway, back to what his head butt action. It surprised and made the whole world curious what exactly Marco Materazzi said to him that set him off. Oh well, I guess this hot bald French guy has hot temper. :)

So thanks to the great penalty kicks by Italy and Trezeguet unfortunate luck (and perhaps Zidane's heat butt action), Italy won. Congrats, Italy.

Right after the World Cup ended, I went to 3rd street Santa Monica. Just before I started the car, something told me I should bring my camera just incase I would like to take photos of the people especially the homeless. Half an hour down the way, people started honking, yelling something I don't understand, and waving Italian flag. Luckily, I brought my camera.

Heavenly Songs? I don't think so

It's 2am and I can't sleep. Why? Because these stupid birds can't stop singing! I don’t know what kind of birds they are and I couldn’t care less, but they have been singing NON-STOP every night since at least a week ago. When I typed "NON-STOP" I really meant NON-STOP. It's exactly like hearing car alarm for hours and hours and hours at midnight when you're trying so hard to sleep. Last night I couldn't sleep until 4am. I went to bed at midnight. If you do the math, that means 4 hours of tossing and turning and cursing at the birds. Do I have to tell you what time did I fell asleep the day before yesterday and the day before that? Hmmm….. I think you got the idea.
It is hard enough for me to try to sleep without the birds' midnight melodic show, it’s almost impossible in the company of the “heavenly songs”.

Travel, Travel, Travel.

These last few months have been very busy months. So many things happen all at once. I can't really complain, or at least not suppose to, since most of those things are good opportunities for me.

Disabled Student Center in Santa Monica College now filled with my photographs, making it look a little like photo gallery. People seem to be pleased with the new look, so I’m happy.

My travel plans really keep my mind off anything else. Europe trip from 28th of July to 29th of August, 5 five countries in one month; France, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Germany. Oh, I can not wait! On top of that, I will also meet my Australian, Belgian, Dutch and Korean old friends on my good friend Li Hua’s wedding in Madrid. We all met in China a couple years back. We went to the same university and lived in the same dormitory, so we saw each other everyday. So many good memories. Gosh, I miss China and my old friends so much.

Haven’t even finished planning the Europe trip, I’m already planning for trip back to Indonesia (and perhaps also Australia) for December. There are some things that need to be taken care of back home and I figure I should go to Australia to meet my old friends while I’m down there. Unfortunately, flight tickets from Jakarta to Sydney cost almost the same as Los Angeles – Jakarta. This is quite surprising to me since the distance from LA to Jakarta is 2.5 times the distance from Jakarta to Sydney. I wonder if this is the way is it or am I just out of luck.

I unquestionably hope to visit Australia for the first time this coming December. But even if I won’t, I will still have a great time in Europe and Indonesia. I do realize that I am very lucky to have been where I’ve been and to be able go to where I will go.
