LA is dead at 2

I dont understand why a city as alive as Los Angeles is dead at 2am. Nothing seems to be open (except for Denny's), and you got nowhere to go but home. Sigh... Maybe I should move to Barcelona where the night starts midnight and goes on til morning. :)
Restaurants were crowded at 2am. Streets around big piazzas (squares) were packed at 3am. How cool is that?
