Growing up in Indonesia with a Chinese background makes Anna no stranger to Asian culture.
Still, she was never impressed with all the culture around her until she was introduced to photography.
This started on August 2004 while she was living in China studying Mandarin.
One of her best friend, Axel Kirch invited her to join an online photography community called “flickr.”
She borrowed Axel’s spare camera given that she didn’t own a camera at that time.
But it doesn’t take long before she decided to get her first camera.
On September 2004, along with Axel and two other friends, she went on a 3 months trip around Asia. Getting her first camera seemed to be a must for this trip. She picked Nikon Coolpix SQ, a tiny point and shoot camera as her first gear. Anna and her brand spanking new gear became inseparable instantaneously. Together they explore the beauty of Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Flowers were blooming, people were smiling; the world was beautiful until the petite camera failed on her a year later. The travel enthusiast was left all alone for a month. A couple of her friends from “flickr” suggested opening a donation to help her get the DSLR that she had always wanted. She hesitated, but then decided to give it a try. Many absolutely wonderful people responded. She was extremely thankful knowing that many people appreciated her work. Nikon d70s was the second gear this animal lover chose to get. Happiness reigns.
Although Anna has only been introduced to photography a couple of years ago, her work has been recognized by people who love art and photography. Some of her photographs have appeared in photo show, book, magazines and various photo blogs. Moreover, she provided some digital photo elements used for the digital matte painting in "Fast and Furious 3".
Everyone has his/her wildest dream. Anna’s is to go to the wild and capture the wild life in their natural habitat. Her even wilder dream is to win the battle with her underwater phobia and to go to the unknown underwater world without fear and photograph the beauty.
This beauty hunter is now living in United States aiming to get a Bachelor degree in Graphic Design from Art Center Pasadena. Her love to architecture led her to her initiate major in Interior Architectural Design in Santa Monica College. She later took some Graphic Design classes and found herself in love with the subject. This photography devotee has just found her new talent. Soon after she found her new talent, some of her design works were selected to be shown in the college’s annual design show.
